Ricky Ponting is still a great player: Dravid


                                                                   
Canberra, Dec 21: Rahul Dravid has come out in support of Ricky Ponting, who barely made it to the Australian squad on Wednesday, insisting the Indian team fears a resurgence from the struggling batsman in the upcoming Test series, starting on December 26.
"I think he is still a great player. He showed in the couple of Test cricket matches that he played against us in India that he is still - I'd say he is still - the best Australian batsman," Dravid was quoted as saying by 'foxsports.com' ahead of the four-match series.
"From our perspective I hope he can start a golden run after our series. When you read his name on the sheet he is still one of the most feared, there is no doubt about it," he added.

BCCI says no to Hot Spot for Ind-Aus Tests

Canberra, Dec 20: The live cricket match is take placing between India and Australia Board of Control for Cricket in India  has not only stuck to its guns on non-acceptance of Umpires Decision Review , it has shot down the use of hot spot for the forthcoming series against Australia.

Cricket circles in Australia, understandably, don't see any merit in India's stance and fear it could turn out to be a controversial stance if a couple of decisions were to go against the tourists at a critical stage of a game.

It was poor umpiring on India's previous tour to Australia which sparked trouble four years ago and almost led to tour being abandoned.

Kohli and Sharma steady India's innings

Canberra, Dec 19: Riding high on Kohli and Rohit Sharma's knock, India manage to score 162/4 at Stumps on Day 1. The duo added flavor to the rain hit day as they have piled up 78 runs for the 5th wicket

After losing a few wickets on a wet day visitors managed to get to a decent score on a day which was affected by rain as it allowed only 50 overs to be bowled on Day One of the three-day practice match against Chairman's XI on Monday.

When it looked like Laxman and Kohli are going to make use of this opportunity and score big, VVS Laxman fell after scoring just 15 runs, as Virat Kohli (55*) and Rohit Sharma (38*) ensured that they are going to capitalize on the opportunity and score big in the practice match.

Indian Cricket team preparing for the fourth test series


Canberra, Dec 18: The Indians are likely to field their first team when they take on Cricket Australia Chairman's XI in their second and final warm-up game which will held on Monday with the fitness of their fast bowlers. The fourth Test Cricket series, starting December 26.

Due to the injury of Ishant Sharma he will not take place on this test series. The team sources insist it would be a precautionary rest for Ishant but at best the issue on his availability is likely to linger till the morning of the first Test in Melbourne on December 26.

Sachin Tendulkar's amazing 92 and VVS Laxman's half-century have given confident  to the visitors.

No injury scare for Ishant says Team management

                                                     
Canberra, Dec 15: Indian team management has cleared the air as rumors about Ishant Sharma fitness was doing rounds after he was forced to leave the field bowling just 5.3 overs during the practice match against Cricket Australia's Chairman XI in Canberra on Thursday.

Ishant experienced pain in the ankle for the second time as he pointed his ankle to the physio and left the ground. Fact is that, he was actually carrying an ankle injury since the tour of England, suggesting a chance for breakdown.

Ishant was forced to leave the field after bowling just 5.3 overs, Indian team manager Shivlal Yadav said,  Sharma was slated to bowl only 6 overs in the first two practice matches and the reason for him leaving the field and abandon one over was due to the loosening of the strap on his ankle which forced him to moe out of the field.

Tiwary's maiden ton helps India score 267/6


                                                      
The fifth One-Day-International cricket match between India and West Indies was took place on 11th December at M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India took 268 run of 50 overs.
    Manoj Tiwary, the comeback man, scores his maiden century as India score 201/3 after 38 overs in the fifth one day international against West Indies at Chennai. Virat Kohli too contributed to the score with a brilliant half century as the duo piled up 117 runs for the 4th wicket.
      
      Virat Kohli played another superb knock as he scored his 18th fifty as he fell 20 runs short of another century. His knock included 5 boundaries. Kohli played a fine knock of 80 before being dismissed by Martin as he tries to hit a six over long-on to give an easy catch to Samuels.
